Renaming the Nation: Modi's G20 Speech as 'Bharat

A Surprising Change

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the G20 Summit in New Delhi, the sign in front of him said 'Bharat' instead of 'India.' This was a big surprise.

A Dinner Invitation Controversy

Before this, there was a problem when President Droupadi Murmu invited foreign leaders to a dinner. She used 'India' instead of 'Bharat.' People started talking about this, and it became a big debate.

What the UN Wants

The United Nations also said something about this. They want to change 'India' to 'Bharat' in their records. This shows that this change is important not just in India, but also in the world.

The Special Parliament Meeting

People were waiting for a special meeting in the Parliament, but they didn't know what would be talked about. Some people said they might talk about changing the name. The party in power (BJP) wanted 'Bharat' to be the main name, but others said it's already in the constitution.

Modi's Advice to Stay Calm

Prime Minister Modi told his ministers not to fight too much about this. He said 'Bharat' is a very old name for our country, so we should be proud of it.

Two Names in the Constitution

Our constitution has two names, 'India' and 'Bharat.' In English, it says 'We, the people of India...' but then it also says 'India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States.' In Hindi, it mostly says 'Bharat' except for one part that says 'Bharat, that is India, shall be a Union of States.'

Changing the Constitution

If we want to change the name from 'India' to only 'Bharat,' we need to change our constitution. That's not easy; it needs a special law, and a lot of people in Parliament need to agree.

More Than Just Words

The debate about 'Bharat' and 'India' is not just about words. It's about who we are as a country. It makes us think about our past and our future, and what we want to tell the world about our name.
