Day 2 Box Office Update: Vijay's Leo Sees Noticeable Decline in Collection

Leo box office collection Day 2: On its second day, Vijay's film has reportedly witnessed a significant fall in its collection

Introduction:

Vijay's much-anticipated action-thriller, "Leo," has created quite a buzz among fans and moviegoers alike. The film had a spectacular opening day collection worldwide, earning a staggering ₹148.5 crore, setting the stage for what was expected to be a record-breaking run. Though, the second day brought mixed reactions from the audience, and it became clear that "Leo" was not performing as well as expected. This article explores into the initial box office performance and reviews of the film, shedding light on its current status.

    The Spectacular Opening:

According to Seven Screen Studio, the production house behind "Leo," the film set the box office on fire with a global collection of ₹148.5 crore on its opening day. In India, it earned an impressive ₹64.80 crore. The initial response had fans and industry insiders buzzing with excitement, anticipating a blockbuster run.

    The Sudden Decline:

Notwithstanding the impressive opening, "Leo" witnessed a significant fall in its collection on the second day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned approximately ₹36 crore in India on its second day, marking a substantial drop of nearly 50% from its opening day. The Tamil occupancy for the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial stood at 66.85%.

    Negative Word of Mouth:

Film trade expert Manobala Vijayabalan revealed that negative word of mouth played a significant role in the film's drop in collections outside Tamil Nadu. He shared on social media, "Leo screens REDUCED from tomorrow outside Tamil Nadu. Shocking fact is, due to poor WoM, many 'Leo' screens are getting allotted to other movies on Day 2 itself all over the world." This unexpected turn of events had many industry insiders and fans confused.

    Hindi Market Challenges:

While "Leo" was expected to dominate in the southern market, it faced challenges in the Hindi-speaking market. Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala noted that the movie only managed to earn ₹2.75 crore in the Hindi market. Rajinikanth's "2.0" still holds the record as the highest-earning Tamil film in the Hindi-speaking belt, with a collection of ₹20.25 crore.

    Mixed Reviews

"Leo" faced its fair share of criticism after the initial reviews poured in. Anandu Suresh, a writer for Indianexpress.com, praised Vijay's performance but pointed out deficiencies in the film's writing and direction. In his review, he stated, "Although the film began on a powerful note, script-wise, it takes a significant downturn in the second half. Even though Lokesh managed to transliterate 'A History of Violence' without merely translating it, the film lacks a sense of originality, especially since the story is almost 18 years old, and the only freshness in it is the incorporation of a regional essence."

    Conclusion:

"Leo" may have opened with a bang, but it is currently navigating a mixed landscape at the box office. While Vijay's star power initially drew a massive audience, the film's decline in collections and the negative word of mouth have raised questions about its long-term prospects. The challenges it faces in the Hindi market and mixed reviews further complicate its journey. It remains to be seen whether "Leo" can overcome these obstacles and continue its cinematic journey with renewed strength.
